Many of you may be aware that Leilehua High School recently posted a flier regarding Prom announcing that due to hotel requirements all students must be fully vaccinated to attend this special event.

Members of our student body are rallying in hopes to find a solution for those who are not vaccinated but would still like to attend Prom.  A member of the Leadership prom committee took it upon themselves to contact the Prom venue and inquire about current Covid policies and requirements.  The Hawaii Prince Hotel, hosting the Junior prom advised that they do allow attendees to present a negative Covid test taken within 48hrs of an event.  They are willing to provide documentation as necessary.

This information was brought to light to our High School Vice Principal with the hopes of changing the announcement, however, by doing this we have discovered that our best efforts alone are not enough to convince the school to change their position.  The solution provided was sadly disregarded and our students were then advised that this is the school’s decision.

This petition was created with the hopes to keep Prom inclusive of ALL students regardless of their vaccination status. We hope that with your help we would be able to state our case and help our voices be heard.  Please help us stand up for the rights of those who are being unfairly excluded because of their decision or even inability to be vaccinated.
