The hassle of stopping by a locker is stressful and causes tardiness to the next period. Making lockers optional prevents late, unprepared and upset students. In case of emergencies and to prevent an increase of lost or stolen items, it is best to let the students carry their supplies in their backpacks and on their persons. The hallways will move quicker and smoother, students can use their lockers for items not necessary to lighten the load of their bags such as lunches, chargers and coats. Many students who are provided lower lockers are trampled and stepped on. Lockers cause mass chaos which is expected to be taken care of in under four minutes.
