The Hillsborough County School District has announced its cancellation of graduation ceremonies that were scheduled to be held in the Florida State Fairgrounds for the Class of 2020 in the Hillsborough County area. Other schools in Florida have held their own outdoor graduation ceremonies in football fields. This petition aims for the same set up at Newsome High School located in Lithia , FL. This petition calls for the ceremony to be held in Newsome  High School’s football field during a time where the coronavirus isn’t risking our community, possibly sometime next year (2021) at a time where the school isn’t busy such as a seasonal break or a weekend. As many graduates and their families feel defeated and heartbroken about this decision, this petition gives Newsome High School the option to personally celebrate its graduates for their accomplishments and perseverance throughout their time attending K-12 schooling at an appropriate time for all of our safety.
