Infinite Campus Should Have a Non-binary Option
A non-bianry person is someone who does not identify as a boy nor a girl and commonly use the singular pronoun they/them. Non-binary people are often discriminated against by society. While a non-binary person may not recieve direct hate/transphobia, they still feel neglected by the world. For example, most public spaces don't have a gender neutral bathroom, not all states allow a non-bianry option on driver’s licenses, and lots of sports teams and groups are separated if you're a boy or a girl. In schools non-binary people are likely to get misgendered which can lead to mental health problems. Also, in many school used sources they only have a boy or girl option. This can lead to non-binary people feeling obligated to choose a gender that they dont define as.
To help make non-bianry people feel included in school, Infinite Campus should have a non-binary option for students and teachers to choose. Non-binary options in Infinite Campus would make students feel more accepted and comfortable in school. They are called the wrong gender in Infinite Campus and can’t do anything about it. That’s the same as a boy being called a girl on a school site, the only difference is that non-binary people’s problems aren’t acknowlaged. Their problems seem to be invisible to the naked eye and solutions are not being presented to help them. Allowing this option can help students not be misgendered by teachers, causing them to not be bullied as much. People seeing their correct gender to them can boost their confidence and self esteem, which non-binary people may lack due to mistreatment.
