Petition to Cancel the Rhetorical Theory Final Exam

Petition to Cancel the Rhetorical Theory Final Exam
The purpose for this petition is to cancel the Rhetorical Theory final exam for the Fall Semester 2021 in honor of the Cincinnati Bearcats winning the AAC Championship at 13-0 after defeating No. 21 Houston. Bellow are some testimonials from students in the class who propose we cancel the final in honor of this victorious win.
“Dr. Sharp, I feel like there is a great deal of commonality between us now. With this proposal to remove the Final Exam, we are no longer alienated. As Kenneth Burke says, you can persuade an individual "only insofar as you can talk [the same] language by speech, gesture, tonality, order, image, attitude, [and] idea" (240). We have a unified goal in the removal of the final. As you have shared with us multiple times throughout the semester, you were once a student too. You took the same Intro to Rhetorical Theory course as us. It is through these hidden sources of commonality that we are able to unite as symbol users. Let us join the shared sense of rhetoric and celebrate this victory in the best way possible: removing our fetters of this exam and reveling in the joyous occasion of this AAC championship win! Burke devoted his life "toward the elimination of warfare" between people and ending the constant struggle of division that is the human condition (241). With this, I propose that we skip the final and enjoy the excitement of this enormous victory.“ Robert Cornwell from Cuervo
“A great rhetorician once said “If we think it’s a table, but they use it as a shelter is it really a table?” That rhetorician was you on like week 7. I am thinking about that mystical trip as you are posing this question to the class about our final exam. If our college, the college we take so much pride in, wins the AAC championship isn’t that a win? But wait! What if you can’t celebrate because the dread of a final and impressing your favorite Professor is weighing you down.. then ask yourself is it really a win? I ask you.. no! I beg you! Wait!!! I pray to you that you take that mystical helicopter ride to the apocalyptic but wonderful world of the student during finals week who just wants to get by and implore you please forget the exam and celebrate not just a win, but the best round of end of semester presentations you’ve ever seen” - Jack, team 12, the guy that did like 7 extra credits, TinkleTime
“I purpose that in honor of a flawless regular season for our schools win, which made history tonight, that we should skip the final. I concur with all the previous students remarks and arguments. Fellow students and rhetors to show support for this proposal leave a like or some other reaction to this post [or sign the petition] as a means to show support for the proposal to omit the final!.” -Stephan Lang from Disaster Cruise
