Karen Hirji started this petition to Students in AHSS3010

The younger generation spends ample time in school where they are learning mathematics, language, social studies, science and much more. However, there is a gap when it comes to the importance of money and how it is to be spent.

We, as a group, have found that students in university (roughly ages 19-25) find it hard to control their spending but also were never taught how to be cautious about their expenses. We also thought about a lot of the reckless spending that we have done in our own lives and how education on this topic could have increased our chances in not doing it, but also putting our money into something that would help us be prepared for the future.

As a result, we decided to create a campaign to bridge the gap between knowledge on financial spending and school. Our action plan is to gather families from lower socio-economic brackets and provide these families will classes that will educate them on how to live lives at their highest potential. We plan to provide these classes at two levels, one for the parents and another for the children. This will give both groups the same opportunity to learn but at the level best suited for them. These practical classes will teach parents and children how to live their lives at the highest potential. In turn, helping families become prepared for what life has to offer or throw at them and help them making wise financial decisions.
