While this year has been extremely difficult for us all, University students in particular have been considerably marginalised and left unsupported by our Government.

It is unquestionable that the global pandemic has severely impacted the quality of education provided to students during this academic year. Studying online has proved extremely difficult, especially with unreliable technology, a lack of resources as well as inaccessible study spaces. However, students are still being expected to produce high-quality pieces of work despite receiving minimal support.

Many students are struggling with mental health, finances, caring responsibilities, isolation etc. As such, the uncertainty and stress bought forth by the current situation has been detrimental.

Therefore, CITY must implement a 'safety-net' to ensure that its students are not unfairly disadvantaged by circumstances outside of their control, especially third-year students who are reliant on their final year grades.

A 'safety-net' would ensure that, so long as a student has passed all modules, their  average will remain the same as, or higher than, the average already attained.

This is the very least that CITY can do to support its students.
