There are a countless amount of cruel issues that come with horse racing. Firstly, if the horses get injured or a not good enough for the race then they are killed. During competitions and training horses of any age can have muscular-skeletal injuries including torn ligaments and tendons, dislocated joints and even fractured bones. Also the horses are trained using whips, spurs and tongue ties. Finally the significant over breeding contributes to the situation. Heaps of horses are bred to race and then there becomes a problem with the amount. Because there are too many, the slowest of the horses are sent to knackeries and abattoirs to be slaughtered.  There are approximately 15,000 Thoroughbred foals bred each year in Australia.
