Get Rutherford County Schools Out For November 1st

Hello! Today I’m asking you to please consider the benefits of schools being out on November 1st. Firstly, Rutherford County Schools range from Kindergarten to Senior year of high school, which means there is a large demographic of students that will be out and about trick or treating on October 31st (the day before November 1st) and while parents may ensure that the younger ones are home soon, many kids won’t go to bed because of all of the sugar they ate. There is also the fact that some high schoolers go trick or treating to consider. That means that a lot of students both young and old will be going to sleep very late and not performing their best in school the next day. There’s also a cultural factor, that being my second point. Día de los Muertos, or most commonly known as Day of the Dead in the US lies on November 1st and 2nd. This issue affects me personally as I am Hispanic. I would love to be out of school, not only because of Halloween, but because Día de los Muertos is supposed to be a day where my family and I can grieve and celebrate the lives of our family members who are no longer with us. It’s not just some lame excuse to skip class. With this day off I would be praying and thinking about family. So please consider this petition❤️
