Stereotyping is a current controversy that occurs all around the phases of our community and lands, with many negative effects and generates an unhealthy mindset among the people. It occurs when a person ascribes the collective characteristics associated with a particular group to every member of that group, discounting individual characteristics. Because of our current timeline that treats every small thing as something big, people try to counter the forms of stereotyping by accepting it, "normalizing" the matter until it calms down and becomes a casual topic. This has become a common practice, in which adults are usually the ones who start and ignite it up in our country, pressing down their old beliefs on the younger generation.

Students like us face these typical stereotypes as well. A specific type that we encountered recently is about the selection of academic strands for upcoming grade 11 students and pupils who are gonna move up and proceed to college. Proper track selection is an important process because it'll help guide the students on their path to work, giving them the necessary knowledge and preparation for their business careers. If they choose something that doesn't suit their tastes or something that they won't enjoy, It will have drawbacks during their work sessions. Examples of these are your parents forcing you to choose the stem strand because it looks fancy and that every intelligent student is there, and neglecting what you truly want to pursue. Another one is being pressured to pick a strand because your friends are there as well, and you'll be "lonely" without them.

Choosing the proper strand that you want to pursue is essential for you to reach the road you want to take. We must take time to define our path, as too quickly we can find the world defining it for us.
