Students Demand Police Training and Accountability Reform
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
We are a class of students at Careers in Sports High School in NYC working toward creating a better relationship between young people and police officers in the South Bronx. Based on our research, we have come up with a two-part plan to support a safer community.
1. Training Reform: We stand for police training reforms that include more anti-bias, deescalation, and disarmament practices. We demand an NYPD training program that accounts for these practices to be mandatory for on-duty officers to repeat at least once every six months.
2. Accountability Reform: We stand for a Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) with more power to punish officers who abuse their power. We demand a bill that moves CCRB trials away from NYPD tribunals, and into independent courthouses.
Please sign our petition if you stand with our goals of more community-friendly policing.
