The current omicron variant and surge in cases have led to safety concerns for students on the UC Davis campus. It is understandable that students would want more measures put in place to protect their safety and many other people's safety during this pandemic. I believe that 2 simple changes can be done relatively quickly to ease people’s minds during this time. 

1. Having quality cameras in every lecture hall so students don’t have to attend class. This benefits students and the school as the UCD would be directly investing in its buildings for future use as well. Most importantly students who don’t feel comfortable in class can watch lectures at home during the pandemic 

2. Have the school create a top-down policy for professors to follow in case someone does test positive in class. Having professors decide what to do individually leads to more confusion and puts stress on them and the students. The school should create a standard for professors and students to follow if a student does test positive.

I think these two changes can be done relatively quickly and effectively which is why I hope many people sign on to this petition.
