Venture academy clearly states “To exhibit any dress, grooming, or appearance that disrupts, or tends to disrupt, the education process, or affects the health or safety of individuals shall be prohibited.” The only thing “Disruptive” is the teachers making a problem out of what your wearing and disturbing not only your education but others. On the dress code the first three rules are absurd. No girl should have to be told to “cover up” because it “distracts men”. To cover up what they have said they use excuses like “don’t disrespect yourself”. Clothing is a way of expression. And a way to feel free. We have always been told to be ourselves. And now that we are…we get into trouble for it. This is an injustice. At a young age women have began to be ashamed of they’re bodies due to the dress code. “Its revealing”. Two girls can be wearing the same thing but one of them is dress coded due to her curves and breast. We are now in 2021 and I think this outdated dress code is unfair. Schools should instead teach us to express and be confident in our own skin no matter what you wear instead of getting kids in trouble, making them feel bad, and sending them home. Schools should not tell us what we can or can’t wear. Schools should not be sexualizing minors. Schools should not take away our class time. We need our voices to be heard and we need change.
