Lunch and learn provided students with a long free period to catch up on work, meet with clubs, get help from teachers, or just take a break from everything. Despite of the trash issue, lunch and learn gave students something to look forward to throughout the day. Students could hang out with friends of any grade and not have to dread going to lunch because they didn’t know anyone. Students had the option to attend multiple clubs due to the various options of time slots to chose from instead of all clubs trying to fit into the same period. Students were also able to go see their teachers for help without having to worry about times lining up. Another plus to lunch and learn was the relaxation it brought. Students didn’t have to rush to eat within a 30 minute time period. Lunch and learn provided an appropriate amount of time for a student to get things done. The new schedule, however, is bringing confusion and causing students to stop what they are doing in class to go eat lunch where they may or may not know someone. How does the school expect the students to come back from lunch and pick up exactly where they left off? It will cause gaps in education. For the unfortunate students who have C or B lunch they will have to learn to adjust to eating at an unbelievably later time. The health and education of the students should out weigh some trash around the school. The student body was not informed of the possibility that lunch and learn would be taken away, and if given a second chance the students might respect it more knowing what is at stake. The school knows lunch and learn is great for students and teachers, that’s why they brought the idea to the students. Now, students need to prove that it is something worth bringing back.
