Diversity is very important to have in schools. It allows you to learn from others and it challenges the quote "ignorance is bliss". Ignorance will be a thorn in your side throughout your life and will make things much harder for you in the long run. This idea doesn't just apply to the people in the school but the subjects being taught as well. There are many different subjects taught at the school but, many of those subjects are the same. They are the same as what the other schools have taught and the generations past have taught. One subject that proves this is the language course. The Bensalem High Schools language course only offers two languages to its students when there are - including languages and sublanguages - roughly 6,500 languages all over the world. Just let that sink in. We are taught two, while there are hundreds of languages in the world. We also have a golden opportunity in our hands, we have a teacher currently at the school who knows how to speak and teach Japanese. Why would we let up the chance for more diversity in our school that will better prepare us for life. Learning languages isn't just the language, but we also learn about the culture, religion, and background of this place and it gives us more perspective on life. Because the truth is, to get through life you will need perspective, not just yours, but others too. So why not start now and start young by adding Japanese back into the language program. There will be a school board meeting on 11/23/2021 @ 7:30 pm. It would mean the world if you live in the area of Bensalem and come out to help in the vote to bring Japanese back. Even if you can't come there is a link for comments and you can sit in online for the meeting. This is a unique opportunity for the students of Bensalem High School and I know many people are interested. Having Japanese as a language can only be a benefit towards our growth of education and as people. So please, mark this date and make sure to come, be on zoom, or leave comments, every person helps.
