Online tests for the 21-22 academic year at Brunel University London
As students at Brunel University London in Year 2 Engineering, we were told at the beginning of the year that our tests could be in-person or online. Throughout the first term, lecturers have been asked over and over again where our exam would be taking place just to be told a generic ‘You’ll be informed soon.’
Currently, students in engineering have NOT been told where their tests will take place. We are currently less than 1 month away from our first test. Without any explicit correspondence from Brunel, we are expected to make sudden arrangements from around England and the world for international students. This could incur a hefty cost for anyone not living in the surrounding area around Brunel.
Personally being someone unavailable to book a spot in my lectures due to lecture halls having a restriction on how many people are allowed in, I find it extraordinarily unfair that modules that are only allowing 30 people in lectures somehow can sit 120+ students in a hall to do a test.
As students who pay £9,250 a year and over, it is unacceptable to not be given a definitive answer within reasonable time about how our test will be held. If you believe that students, should be given plenty prior notice to how their tests will be delivered and the ability to attend every lecture in person safely please sign this petition so our 2021 December exam can be online until Brunel have an organised plan for how our next term will be taught.
