Justice for Andrew and his brother

Justice for Andrew and his brother

Hi guys, this is an emergency call for every student and everyone who understands the concept of respecting human rights and protecting one's life. It's Halloween night, the scariest night of the year. Two brothers, two international students, went to a Halloween party with some friends, they had fun, they enjoy the company of their friends and they probably thought that it was a fun night. We are in The Hague, in the Netherlands, and these two are students of Den Hague University. But this Halloween night really was the scariest night of the year for them. On the way home, they were stopped, immobilized, and beaten up by the police. One of them is lying on the floor begging the officers to let him go and asking for the reason why they did spray pepper spray in his eyes. "please leave him, please". A friend who's there at first, crying, screamed "Stop this stop this, he is a human". His brother tried to defend him and he got in a position of wrong and ended up being beaten up by the officers. Why are we telling you this? Because you could be there. You could be a friend crying for help. You could be the one who saw his brother's rights to be overstepped. You could be a person who casually passed there at that moment. The two of them are facing a year of detention. But we want you to reflect on three things: you should notice that the police officers weren't wearing a mask during the sanitary emergency of Covid19, you should pay attention to the fact that the two guys weren't armed and they were two while the police officers are six and they were fully armed, you should hear the voice who says "he's a human" and another who asks "why are you hitting me for". All of us, because we are human, need to take action for this. This cannot be okay. This cannot be normal. The only thing we should do is screaming all together "Stop this, he's a human". Justice is not an opinion, is not a passion, discrimination is. Justice goes with human rights, violence forgot human rights and goes with power.
