Hilal Habahbeh started this petition to students and staff of Guelph-Humber

Lockdown Browser is a system which records students while writing tests and is used by the University of Guelph-Humber. The usage of this system is a violation to privacy laws as students have no option to opt-out from using a system that is owned by a third party company which collects data and has unrestricted access to your computer. It states in the terms and conditions  that the software can record your webcam and microphone as well as other certain system and network data. The level of access this implies plus general obscurity of the software seems like a security issue. It is also apathetic towards students with ADHD and other special accommodations. Furthermore, the control this software has on your device is ridiculous and The University of Guelph-Humber should seriously reconsider their options as this software is stress inducing and affects student performance during tests/exams. People are not comfortable virtually as they would be in person, during an assessment being virtually watched can cause additional stress and anxiety. There are already enough distractions in certain individuals' households that need to be dealt with privately and not seen on Respondus. Also, students do not always have access to a quiet space, due to COVID-19 students that would normally go to a library or rent a study space to do the assessment do not have the capacity to do so and thus are getting flagged for reasons beyond their control.
