I realize when I go to school everyday that most kids do seem unhappy. Though this may not apply to all schools, personally I feel like this is an issue due to many things such as the lack of support on mental health, I do realize that it isn’t necessarily a teachers job to worry about that, but it is becoming a growing issue especially in teens/young adults. Also, every student is different and learns differently, there has been an increase in trying to support students in different ways of learning but other student still suffer if they don’t find ways that may help other kids useful. Another thing is, is that school hasn’t changed much in the longest time, there’s been no drastic changes since it began besides technological advancements, many teachers still use a lot of packet work and expect their students to understand it by just reading a few paragraphs, even though this could be useful in some cases it just seems like it’s not in many though. Another thing is, is that arts and creativity aren’t expressed enough throughout schools and it’s really just stripped down to required classes and sports. One thing at my school personally is that sports tend to get almost 4x the spending money than any other department and many teachers are upset or have even quit due to this. One major thing is that in school they never really teach you the essential things in life but rather teach you a lot of useless stuff, while they could be teaching us stuff like taxes, home economics, minor mechanics, etc. instead they’re teaching us things like quadratics and what’s the power house of the cell and who all attended Andrew Jackson’s election party. This will inevitably take a lot to complete but I hope some day the future generations will be able to have some sort of change so the school system will be better for not only them but for all those to come after.
