I made a speech about how it should be changed

Imagine going through 16 - 18 years of your life being judged on how you act as a person and how intelligent you are. Sounds crazy right school does that to you. It’s the same routine every day; wake up, work, stress, go home, do homework, and by the time you are done working it’s time to sleep and do it all over again and oh yeah, In all that you have to find the time to do other activities you want to do. School judges you on this thing called a grade. The big prize is getting that A and everyone wants it when you don’t get it you give up and feel like you’re a failure. The sad truth is the lack of self-confidence kills more dreams than failure itself. School shouldn’t make you feel like that, everyone has different hopes and dreams. Not everyone is gonna need to know how to solve for x. Everyone has different positions in life and school needs to set you up for that. School is supposed to be a place where you find out who you truly are not to fight and stress over this simple thing called a grade. Grades define who you are and that shouldn’t be the case, people are not going to be good if they are not interested, our generation is 20% of the population but 100% of the future. School tries to set you up for success but in reality, they are setting you up for success a hundred years ago,  they have the same methods they used back then, they tell you to raise your hand if you have a question give you time to eat and then at the end of the year they judge if you should go on and pass based on a test. A test that can make or break your future parent’s spend all this money to have their kids have access to all these tutors for them to what? Hopefully, pass the test and get a diploma to hang up on your wall where you’ll never look at it again. I find that crazy. I also find it crazy how in elementary school they don’t prepare you for middle school and in middle school, they don’t prepare you for high school and high school doesn’t prepare you for the real world. Isn’t that what school is about getting you ready for the real world but yet the real world hits you hard and it isn’t stopping or changing for nobody. I feel like school should get you ready for the big step from your parent’s house to your own place. Because everyone thinks they are ready for the real world because they are told in school that you will be fine but in reality, you are struggling. Finding a job these days is impossible. It seems like you need a college degree to work in retail, schools need to teach you those life lessons that you need out in the real world but now we are identified by how we do on a test and how much effort we put into our work. School should be a place where you feel safe to make friends enjoy being a kid/teenager but also come out of high school having an idea of what you want to do and be as a civilian in the real world whether; it be joining the military, becoming a police officer, a realtor there are so many choices but not much time school flies by quick and time is not stopping because you are asking it to. Teachers should be paid as much as doctors or lawyers. A good teacher can make a student wanna learn and want to succeed. Teachers are heroes without the capes, teachers are the reason most kids succeed because they hit the heart of the student but teachers are too busy getting students ready for standardized testing. that there is no time to teach kids the necessary lessons. If we can find a cure for diseases and other things then we should find a cure for education. We should look up to countries like Finland; where teachers are getting better pay, there is less homework, fewer tests, but still have the best education system in the world. Because they inspire students to do better because they have less stress and shorter days. If there were shorter days less work and no standardized testing the United States board of education would be so much more successful because they wouldn’t be stressing the students out by piling and piling them with work. Surveys show that 72% of teens are stressed because of school. It's because there is so much going on at one time that students get overwhelmed.
