We need to bring Mr. Hanson back!

When COVID-19 hit, our school made the transition to virtual learning. As you can guess, this was a difficult transition. Teachers and students had to deal with difficulties such as new programs and changes in curriculum, among other things. There were sometimes breakdowns in communication, or a lesson was made much harder than it had to be due to the constraints of virtual schooling.

This was not the case with Mr. Hanson. From day one of virtual schooling, Mr. Hanson maintained a consistent and planned curriculum. He conducted class just like normal. He would review the homework, ask for and answer any questions that we had, and then teach us our daily lesson. He also remained available for extra help, should we have needed it.

Having just had a baby in March, Mr. Hanson did not feel comfortable continuing to teach in person. He was more than happy to teach virtually. However, the school did not allow him to do this. We have students in pods taking classes virtually when their teacher cannot be present in the same room. My question to you is, how is teaching from home different than teaching from a classroom across the building? It really isn't.

Mr. Hanson was exemplary throughout the duration of virtual schooling, and it is unfair that he isn't being allowed to teach because during virtual learning (and in class instruction) he always acted in the best interest of the students!

As students, we come to our school in order to receive the best well rounded education our community has to offer. This education is being satisfied in all areas across the board, except for math. While we have qualified math teachers in the school, without Mr. Hanson, not all students are able to receive the quality education they need in mathematics due to time constraint, staff shortage, etc. We need his math expertise and request that the school reconsider allowing Mr. Hanson to teach from home for the remainder of this pandemic.
