Makenna Maurisak started this petition to Post Production Department Bonnie Winer and

Columbia College Chicago's Cinema and Television Arts department are currently cutting courses that involve editing and post production. To the board of this department, these courses are irrelevant to the studies of cinema and television.

Students at this school, who are studying these concentrations in the Cinema and Television Arts program, are not getting the opportunities Columbia originally promised them at orientation. Due to classes being cut, students have to race to registration in order to make it in to the few classes left.

Editing and post production are an important part of this field as without this, cinema and television would not have the incredible CGI and visual effects they do today. Without proper training, editors will not be able to replicate these important techniques effectively in cinema and television.

Some of the classes that are being cut include:

*Foley (Artists Recording Sound Effects)

*ADR (Audio Dialogue Replacement)

*Post Production Audio III

*Editing in the Short Form

*Editing for Documentary
