The administration of MTHS has been focusing more on dress code than our education. Girls have been called disgusting for their clothes that show little skin and have been told their “distracting.” This is getting out of hand. Dress code is promoting the sexualization of women’s bodies and should be changed. Our body can not be changed and our body is not a sex organ. If we are gonna be taught to change our clothes, the boys should be taught not to look. We are in school learning about how to continue our lives in the future, not how to change our clothes. We are also struggling with self image and this is making it worse. We should also not be taken out of class just because of our clothes. School is supposed to be a safe learning environment where some kids who have bad at home environments can come to escape, but it’s turning for the worse. Dress code should be changed to involve both genders and not just females. It should also include all body types. This is something that needs to change for the better.
