Asha Dillon started this petition to Students and

Sign this petition to help open doors for our students with disabilities!

My call to action is to sign and share this petition to obtain as much support as possible so that our local school board members understand the injustice of this issue that leaves our fellow classmates dependent on the immediate presence of others. We must strive to create a culture of inclusivity, so that all students, regardless of mobility, can open the doors to their education, resulting in a sense of independence, agency, and dignity.

In an increasingly modernized world, one would assume that its correlation with access and equity would be direct. However, students' with physical disabilities basic needs and human rights are still largely ignored. This is a dehumanizing problem in our very own school district. Currently, the vast majority of our district's schools have not installed disabled access buttons, which serve to democratize accessibility to classrooms, gyms, and other school buildings. In the absence of these buttons, students with physical disabilities are left struggling to open doors on their own, or are left waiting for someone to open the door. This is unacceptable.

I will be speaking in front of our school board early next month. The more signatures we get the more the school board will understand how important of an issue this is. Please sign and share!!!
