Abolish The Death Penalty in The United States of America

The purpose of this proposal is to make strides to abolish the death penalty in the United States. The death penalty is the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a capital crime. The death penalty not only goes against morals and violates the constitution, it also violates UDHR article #3, The Right to Life. The Right to Life states that we all have the right to life, and to live in freedom and safety. By allowing for the death penalty to take place in The United States is a clear violation of this article. The United States not only stands for Justice, but also with law. By not following a document adopted by The United States makes the government a lying government. When an individuals is sentenced to death penalty, data has proved that there is no lower rates of homicide. The death penalty is supposedly used to prevent crime, the statistics show that it fails to justify the purpose. The death penalty is also unjustifiable due to the irrevocable mistakes made. Over the past few years over 150 individuals have been taken off death row after being proven guilty. DNA evidence is unnecessary to be put on death row, supporting the fact that there has been instances where individuals lost their lives without their own justice being truly served. The death penalty costs much more for the state than life in prison. Many think that this costs much less, due to the cost of the prosecutors and defense attorneys this is not true. Not only are the prosecutors and defense attorneys expensive for the state, but they must also pay Jury selection, the trial, and initials appeals making the cost of the death penalty being far more expensive. The death penalty has been going on for all of America’s life, it’s time for adjustments to be made. The United States shouldn’t be a lying country breaking ones own law, instead a country of truth and integrity. Until the death penalty is abolished in The United States, it’ll be impossible for America to exemplify integrity.
