from the time us girls were little we were told to cover up. that we’re too revealing. from the time we were children we were sexualized. and now its carried into high school as well. think about it. we cant show our shoulders, our stomachs, no skin above our knees. no student is distracted by belly buttons or shoulders. the system needs to stop sexualizing teenage girls.

i think it is so unfair how we are constantly told to cover up because we could be potentially distracting and taking away from the boys education, and then we get called out of class because of that which ultimately takes away from our education.

what male student has ever said “her bra strap is showing i cant concentrate” “her skirt is a few centimeters above her knees i can’t focus with all that skin showing” “her shoulders are showing, i wont be able to focus all day” no one.

do you not understand the problem with this?

when teachers interrupt a females school day by forcing her to change her clothes or send her home because her bra strap is showing, her shorts are too short, or her shoulders are visible, you are telling her that making sure males have a “distraction free” learning environment is more important than her education.

THIS IS SLUT SHAMING. instead of shaming girls for their bodies, teach boys that girls are NOT sexual play things. we are people. as much as anyone else. we do not deserve to be singled out and treated this way because of our bodies.

girls shouldn’t be stopped for wearing comfortable clothing, especially to accommodate the weather. in the winter we wear sweaters and in summer we wear tank tops. why is that such a radical concept?

instead, the system should teach boys that a girl is a person and not an object for his amusement. my shoulders, my knees, my neck, they are not distracting. THEY ARE SIMPLY BODY PARTS.

the way we dress does not dictate who we are or how we should be treated.

dress codes in schools are promoting rape culture. this is not okay. stop sexualizing and shaming teenage girls for the way they dress.
