For SRUC Aberdeen Campus term dates to remain the same.

We, the undersigned, would like to register our very strong objection to the proposed alteration in term dates. We believe it will negatively affect Craibstone students for the following reasons:
o Many students would lose the opportunity to attend college altogether, as the existing term dates allows for them to provide help on their own farm’s harvest etc.
o Harvest jobs provide some of the highest wages for students over this time of year, giving them a healthy financial status throughout the academic year.
o Surplus other rural employment within the Aberdeen and surrounding areas have been highlighted to lay within our existing holiday dates. Taking these opportunities away from students will overall significantly reduce their position of being “industry ready graduates”.
o Without the opportunity of harvest work, students are missing out on direct and relevant employment links for the future.
We believe this will not only inconvenience current students but may also put off any future students considering study at Aberdeen campus.
