Seton Hall University started this petition to student body and

Many hot and cold food and beverages are served in disposable Styrofoam containers on campus.  Styrofoam is bad for the environment and bad for human health. Styrene (a component of Styrofoam) is a harmful chemical that can leech into the food and drink served in these containers.  Styrofoam can’t be recycled and does not biodegrade, it sits in landfills for hundreds of years, toxic to the planet, animals and humans.

By signing this petition, students are requesting that all Styrofoam containers be eliminated on campus by May 15, 2019.  There are many eco-friendly container options available today, from bamboo to hemp to recycled paper products.  Replace Styrofoam and allow students to use refillable/reusable containers for takeaway food and drinks.
