Amend the sexist dress code of volusia
I believe the dress code is sexist. When anyone looks at the dress code it’s multiple depictions on what a young lady cannot wear. Dress code paints a negative image to young girls and promotes r*pe culture. There has been many stories of girls getting dress coded off shoulders or their shorts being above their finger tips….I say this promotes r*ape culture because of the stories I’ve heard of young girls being told they need to cover up so they won’t get harassed or looked at in a sexual manner… young women have been taught at a young age that covering up is “lady like”. that showing ur curves that you have with a skin tight shirt is a loop hole for predators. Making it young women’s faults for getting harassed and even SA. It creates an uncomfortable environment where girls are forced to wear uncomfortable things despite how impractical it is in certain weather. When you look at a males dress code the the most you see is a saggy pants being a no. In the young men dress code durags are also banned. Durags are a part of black culture and is protective for black hair. Durags should never be discriminated against….it’s a way of black men and even black women to protect their hair style. The dress code is oppressive. It has been for many years. It’s needs change just like our system today. Please sign this potation and stand with us.
