DON’T BUY, SAY BYE TO THE WORLD OF PLASTIC!

DON’T BUY, SAY BYE TO THE WORLD OF PLASTIC!
Why this petition matters
LET’S JOIN HANDS TO STOP PLASTIC POLLUTION AND MAKE OUR EARTH A SAFE HAVEN FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!
We the students of Little Flower School, Uppal Hyderabad, India, through the IDS Activity 7 TITLED “DON’T BUY, SAY BYE TO THE WORLD OF PLASTIC! “in collaboration with the grade 10 students of Lycee Saint Gabriel – Saint Michel France, have researched about the types of plastic, studied and collected facts on the devastating impact plastic has had on our natural resources, the environment and general public health.
Did you know that it takes 1000 years for a plastic bag to degrade in a landfill? They become micro plastics that absorb toxins and pollute the environment.
The most visible and disturbing impacts of marine plastics are the ingestion, suffocation and entanglement of hundreds of marine species. Marine wildlife such as seabirds, whales, fishes and turtles mistake plastic waste for prey and most die of starvation as their stomachs are filled with plastic.
Plastic affects almost all the systems of the human body and leads to cancer, vision loss and hormonal imbalance…. and the list goes on…..
We the students of class 10 of Little Flower School Uppal, India have vowed to be the change we want to see and have started to reach out to schools and communities. We organized a rally to educate and empower people with information and made several recommendations like switching to plastic free alternatives instead of purchasing plastic products wherever possible. Inculcating new habits for instance, carrying a cloth bag while shopping may look like a drop but if we all follow this simple lifestyle change it can make a world of difference in this call for action against plastic pollution.
Therefore we earnestly appeal to everyone, you fellow students, the parent community, industrialists, government officials and general public to pledge your support by signing this petition against plastic use and focus on the 4R principle - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover.
Thank You
Class 10 Students
