TO THE HONORABLE COMMISSIONERS:

With the sharpest increase in inflation since the 80s, many of us as Fulton County residents are in serious danger of losing our homes.  We may not have achieved the American Dream of 40 acres and a mule, but did make sacrifices to at least purchase a home.  Now increasing property taxes each year in Fulton County is about to destroy the hope and sacrifices we made. 

You are fully aware of the financial struggles we are facing during this economic downturn.   Many legislators, from the president on down, feel our pain and are providing ways to lend support during this period of economic hardship, some in very creative ways.  But what do our commissioners propose?  You are willing to have us shoulder the burden of an increased millage rate of over 5%!    

Commissioners, this is not the time to create this extra hardship on your constituents who are already financially strapped.   Though taxes are already high, we supported you as our elected officials because we thought you would work to at least maintain the rate, or maybe even find ways to lower them.  To follow through on this ridiculously high millage rate increase would most definitely cause many of us to lose our homes!  This is not what we thought home ownership in Fulton County would come too.  Would this, in essence, be a discriminatory action against homeowners in Fulton County?

You have the power to rescind this proposal.
