Street Naming of "Benjamin Ashburn Way" Harlem NY

Street Naming of "Benjamin Ashburn Way" Harlem NY
Why this petition matters
In honor of the legendary music group The Commodores and their esteemed manager and community leader Benjamin Ashburn, we would like to rename the South West corner of 135th and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd to:
“BENJAMIN ASHBURN WAY”
The Harlem Community Board has already voted YES!
WE NEED THE COMMUNITIES HELP! We need 500 signatures from our neighbors in Harlem in support of this historic moment.
BENJAMIN ASHBURN, was a manager and internationally renowned group The Commodores and was one of the most successful managers in the field.
He led the way for other Black groups, managers and accomplished many firsts for himself, The Commodores and the community. He refused to limit the group's stardom to any one demographic, rather he expanded the reach of R&B music and magnified the term crossover music. He was loved by all who met him, from Mohammed Ali and his office neighbor Adam Clayton Powell, to Commodores' fans, peers, associates and music business executives, musicians, secretaries and all others.
THE COMMODORES, one of the greatest Motown and R&B/Funk artists of all time, have continued to entertain fans around the world for over fifty years. They were the original house band at Harlem's legendary Smalls Paradise which is the exact location of the new Benjamin Ashburn Way. The Commodores have sold 75 million albums worldwide and have seven #1 singles, five #1 albums, twenty top 10 singles, and fifteen top 10 albums.
Let's make history together!!
