Beloved and well respected Franklin  Class of 1968's  Warrior,  Ricky  Dean Gilchrist of 1 Schenchenko Avenue in Somerset NJ needs a  street named after him to honor his sacrifice and bravery like our other Vietnam Veteran Warriors/Franklinites. A street named in his honor is way overdue and we need to make this happen ASAP!

--- Melvin Hooper (Class of 68) "If you recall, that was the year the draft Lottery was instituted where everyone 18 years and older were assigned a Lottery number tied in to your Social Security number and date of birth.   When the lottery numbers were announced in the Fall of 1968, Ricky was among the first group to be sent.  Ricky was sent to the front line in the Vietnam War and was killed in action.   The Memorial to Military members and their families here in Monmouth County has him listed killed in action in 1971"

It is way overdue and there is no time like the present to honor Ricky as well with a street named after him.  We currently have streets honoring our other beloved fallen soldiers such as John E. Bush Ave (formerly Nordacs Ave), etc..  Ricky is indeed another one of our American Hero from our town that needs to be honored as well in the same way.
