It is a fact that almost every single movie or series has unnecessary nudity/sexuality/violence or profanity. For an example, there is a series currently streaming that advertises itself as a “superhero” series, with each new episode the sexual content becomes more and more graphic showing scenes of graphic sexual violence/assaults and are now showing long scenes of actual porn videos in the series without any warning. It is completely unnecessary content with nothing to do with the storyline, and it’s happening consistently. Exposing ourselves and our children to this kind of content only breeds destructive patterns/lifestyles while it’s been proven to contribute to unhealthy addictions as well.  Streaming services are taking over, but there are so many of us consumers who want the ability to stream filtered content, like they do when movies go to television. We pay for these services but don’t want to see (and don’t want our children to see) most of the unnecessary content in these films and shows. There should be an option to “stream clean” at an additional cost, for those of us that actually do care about the content being viewed in our homes, and many times it is viewed unintentionally.
       Our children are being exposed younger and younger to nudity/pornography due to the nature of what’s in movies and on Tv. Did you know the average age a child first sees some form of pornography is 4 years old? Violence and profanity is age 1! Adults are becoming addicted to pornography at astonishing rates which is contributing to infidelity, divorce and unhealthy perversions. Children are watching extremely graphic violence and sex scenes…and much like drugs, if the contents of their addictions are so easily accessible, it only exacerbates the problem. Many detectives credit kidnappings, rapes and murders to the viewing of pornographic or overly sexual and violent materials/movies. The increasing rate of over sexualizing and de-sensitizing society to violence and sex is the root cause for the increase in rape, sexual assault, teen promiscuity, violence, physical assaults, and murder etc. Even in schools now, our children are being exposed to sexual situations and scenarios, so there is no safe outlet for them anywhere. Something has to change. 

   We need to have the ability to control the content of what we watch in our own homes, as well as safe-guarding streaming services for our children. Even regular television is beginning to push the envelope with more vulgar language, rear nudity/sexuality and excessive violence being deemed appropriate for young viewers. If streaming services allow the option for their customers to stream filtered content, at an additional cost, while keeping unfiltered content still available to customers who opt out of filtering, they lose nothing. They keep the existing customers who don’t care about filters, but they GAIN the customers who avoid these services due to their content. We are just asking for the choice to be available to us. This content is in almost every single movie/show available and it is almost impossible to avoid. We should have the choice to not be exposed to things we don’t want in our homes while still being able to watch films and/or shows.
     There are currently streaming services and movie studios (such as Disney, HBO, 20th Century Fox and many, many more) that are not allowing their films and shows to be filtered on streaming services through third party censors, which needs to change. These same companies are very vocal about peoples rights, but they are denying a large percentage of customers the right to not be exposed to certain contents of these films. There are so many of us that are not okay with the direction the content of films as well as the direction the world has gone and continues to go and a huge contributor to these problems is the fact that normalizing harmful content has been going on for years, thus desensitizing so many to the root causes of the majority of our problems today. This option is a win for everyone. We might not be able to change other people, but we can help change the direction the world is going one person at a time by focusing on the people in our homes including ourselves.
