Straw Smart - stop sucking!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!

500 million straws are used and thrown away in the US every day. This affects landfills, oceans, and the environment. Straws are non-recyclable single use plastics which contain BPA, and break-down into microplastics harming marine life.

We pledge to stop the use of unnecessary straws in Victoria, B.C. by reducing automatic straw distribution in establishments. We hope to convince local restaurants and bars to stop putting straws in drinks, unless requested. Our long term goal is to replace plastic straws with reusable or biodegradable straws in establishments.

We have included some resources, check it out for more information!
