Strathmore Secondary Students in urgent need of shelter and wet weather policy

For some time now Strathmore Secondary students have had no choice but to be forced outside in wet weather during break times. The library which was once a haven for students from freezing wet weather, is now being barricaded. Students are being turned back out in the rain. Classrooms and other buildings such as the Theatrette and E Block, which should be opened to accomodate students are also not permitted for use. Senior school students have only two options when turned away from the library: the study pods which will disrupt students wanting to study, which do not have adequate heating, or the Common Room which is poorly ventilated, the microwave ‘no fish rule’ is not enforced and is overcrowded. The Junior school students currently do not have any shelter. Teams do not open their rooms in wet weather and the library is being closed off. We urgently need a specific wet weather policy for both teachers and students to be able to follow so that students are not left out in the wet elements.
