Save Integricare Homebush (Kuralee Childcare)

After more than 40 years of service to the community of Strathfield, Integricare Kurralee Children’s Centre Homebush is being forced to close its doors 20th December 2019. This will force 80 children and their families to find places in already overcrowded centres some distance away.

Traditionally known as “Kurralee” (the aboriginal word for “where the children stay”), the center with its dedicated staff have cared for more than  3,300 of our local children since it opened in 1977.

Now due to the Strathfield Council’s unwillingness to spend $500,000 to refurbish the aging building, Integricare have been forced to close their doors.  80 local children and their families will not have access to desperately needed long day care service, a preschool program with extended hours. Dedicated, caring staff many of whom have been at the centre for more than a decade may lose their jobs.

It is astonishing to think that when the Council reports a $12million surplus, they cannot make the critical changes needed to make Kuralee a safe and healthy learning environment for local children!

We the undersigned ask that Strathfield Council as owner of the building the Kurralee centre is located in, refurbish the building making it fit for purpose and compliant with child care regulations.
