Simon Kirkland started this petition to Stratford-on-Avon District Council

Save the landmark railway bridge that runs over Green Lane between Studley and Redditch. The bridge makes a positive contribution to the local character of the area, as well as providing a safe cycle and walkway. We call on Stratford-on-Avon District Council to protect the bridge by listing the bridge as a non-designated heritage asset, because the bridge is an irreplaceable resource in keeping with the character of the area and any other alternative will not be as safe for our young, elderly and disabled.

The bridge is used by cyclists, walkers, dog walkers, commuters and children getting to school. It provides a safe means of crossing a narrow busy lane at peak times and is one of the few quiet, picturesque walking routes in the 2 towns. It’s an area of natural beauty and the intended plans of Redditch Borough Council (current owns of the bridge) to spend £200,000 to knock it down would ruin this footpath and make it unsafe for people to cross the road. There has been no provided evidence of the bridge being unsafe or needing major works to keep it maintained.

THE SAFEST WAY TO CROSS A ROAD... IS A BRIDGE!
