Save the Tomlinson Mansion (Stratford, NJ)

The 1844 Tomlinson Mansion is the most endangered building in Stratford, NJ. A California based company, Cedarwoods Asset Mgt., could demolish this beautiful historic building to construct a 5-story Senior Living complex, despite the property being zoned for offices.

Simply put, the developer cannot construct on this site without key concessions from the Stratford Council, Land Use Board, and Mayor. Stratford must communicate with the developer that they will not make any land use concessions without a plan which will preserve the house. Stratford's government has the power to protect this significant building.

This historic home, listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, is located on the North Branch of Timber Creek where Ephraim Tomlinson's mills and businesses were instrumental in the formation of the surrounding small communities.

We are asking that the house be preserved as a lively part of Stratford again, either through inclusion into the developer's plan, subdivision, or any other reasonable proposal. Stratford can be developed and revitalized without destroying its historic and cultural heritage. Please save the charm and beauty of this unique town. Please save the Tomlinson Mansion.
