Over the past 5 months the whole country have been experiencing hard times due to Covid 19. People have lost loved ones and have been seperated from their families, businesses have been closed never to reopen and people have lost their jobs. The hospitality sector has been hit hard with many pubs not being able to re open. We at The College Arms were concerned that we would be one of those that would have to shut our doors and that our staff would lose their jobs so we racked our brains thinking how we would be able to trade again safely given the current government guidelines. We approached the Chairman of the parish Council to discuss the use of the Village Green opposite us and after a little more investigation found that we would be able to use the village green for outside seating. We purchased 10 more picnic benches, at a time when we had no income for the past 3 months,  and set them out on the green. We were lucky enough to have a mobile bar that we set up at the front so that people would not need to enter our small country pub. We were nervous to open but were absolutely amazed by the support we received from the villagers. People told us they felt safe and were so grateful to have a place to come to after being on lock down for so long. Everyone said that it was really bringing the community together and many were meeting people from the village that they had never met before. When the guidelines were changed we started to have Live Music outside on a Saturday for 2 hours from 4-6pm so not to disturb our neighbours evenings. This was really well received by villagers and they felt for 2 hours they could forget about the pandemic. We have now had 2 phone calls from Stratford District Council regarding complaints that have been made by a few nearby neighbours in regards to the music that is played for 2 hours 4-6pm on Saturday afternoon. We monitor the music levels and will continue to do so as we would hate for the minority to ruin it for everyone else. If you are in favour of us continuing to use the village green and providing Live Music on a Saturday afternoon then please show your support by filling out this petition.
