Pulaski, Tennessee is a small town 30 so minutes from Huntsville, Alabama. Most know the history that comes with Pulaski, but others have not a clue. If you Google Pulaski, Tennessee you may be shocked to find that it was were the KKK was originated from. With KKK rallies that often happened throughout history (it doesn happen anymore) people of color, the LGBTQ community and many others are terrified to even step foot in this small southern town. 

Southern history is very important to many. God and the bible even more. But, with all that comes hatred, judgemental, and bigotry.

Pulaski, indeed, has come a long way. There is many people of different nationalities that live and many people are also of mixed races. One thing you wouldn't expect is there is many of the LGBTQ community who reside in Giles County. Many that own businesses, spend their money here, and raise families here. 

In June 2021, members of the LGBTQ community decided to throw a Pride event with a drag show. Over 800 people from Tennessee showed up but from all over the country! There were no protesters and just a lot of people just wanted a safe place to go to be themselves, spread love, and love who they wanna love. 

June 2022, Pulaski had their 2nd annual Pride. With it being an election year, there has be much controversy. Pulaski Pride had half in attendance then they did last year in fear of being hurt by people that did not agree. They had a few protesters, but overall it was still a day full of love.

One of the main people who have lead the hate against the LGBTQ community is a man named Graham Stowe who is running for County Executive.

Stowe's argument is that they are concerned with the safety and we'll being of the children as they have attended the drag shows both years. Many of the people voting for him or as we call them his "followers" have also said they are concerned about the children while making remarks such as "trannies," "pedophiles," and "grooming." 

Many of his "followers " have very hateful posts on their Facebook profiles as well as have been harassing not only many people from the LGBTQ community but also the family who have put together the event.

July 5, 2022 they had a meeting at the Giles County Agri Park (where the Pride has been thrown both years) and the current County Executive was attacked (thank God the sheriff department was there and others to protect her). They stated that the LGBTQ community and the Pride thrown was "evil." 

If Stowe is elected in the August election here in Giles County Tennessee HATE WILL WIN! The LGBTQ community will not have any freedom and rights and he will make sure a Pride does not happen in 2023.
