Grievance

The government’s waste of the public’s tax money in its case against Pilatus Bank has already affected Malta’s economy drastically, and it continues to do so nowadays. We have no idea the extent of damage it can do. 

So far, the magisterial inquiry itself cost the citizens of Malta about €7.5 million out of their tax money, and the amount just keeps on growing. 

Furthermore, the freezing of the bank’s assets is a precedential event for other international investors who now avoid investing in Malta. International investors are the fuel of our economy and a significant source of income, which we can’t afford to lose in this economy and at a time of global inflation.

We respectfully request the House to end the money spilling and the damage done to our economy, and operate to heal it instead by taking the following measures:

• The official closing of the case against Pilatus bank
• The unfreezing of the assets
• the re-building of the relationship and trust between Malta and international investors 

Closing remarks

The case against Pilatus Bank hurt Malta’s already dependent economy and reputation. We request to act for the sake of Malta’s citizens, future stability, and growth.
