Why this petition matters

Started by Marrez Walker

I’m a former Ramp Supervisor for Below Wing and received my termination letter, Monday 27JUN22 for an incident that took place 26MAY22. I believe that I was unjustly removed from my position with your company. I would like to be treated fairly in this matter because I really enjoy working with your company and would never do anything to jeopardize my employment. It was noted that I had left the Terminal around 0140pm and returned back around 0300pm. The matter of my termination was determined a month after the event had taken place in which I was never addressed by management with a conversation nor written warning. It was considered “Time Theft” but then overturned to “Poor Work Performance” after providing proof of documentation of my appointment to HR. One individual in particular is very good at siding with management and not talking with all of the parties involved in the situation.

My termination was misrepresented by management due to the fact that my documentation was ignored. I feel it was a wrongful termination due to an honest human mistake for not punching out, but I checked in with both Supervisors on Duty and rushed out due to running late to make it to the appointment. I’m very aware of the company policies and rules and would never intentionally violate any of them. I would like to inform you that I am not blaming anyone for my dismissal, but I do regret not informing HR of the events that had taken place that has led up to my termination. I would like to be heard by speaking of the intentional malice from our management team.

I had spoken with upper Management about how I am not getting the support that I need from my Ramp Shift Manager because he was never available due to the fact that he was leaving early during the busy time of the operation without communicating that he was leaving to myself or any of the other Supervisors that may have been on duty. Most of the time, I was the only Supervisor with no help doing the very best that I could with Inbounds, Outbounds, Bagroom, Lavatory and Water duties including my Shift Report plus we are always under staffed. I reported him and the retaliation had begun.

I am the only Supervisor that started to get harassed and have so many witnesses to vouch if necessary. He would write me up for things that were out of my control by stating that I had poor work performance. The times that he had given me the write-ups, there was another Supervisor on Duty, and I asked why is this always falling on me when I’m not working alone. From March to May, I received a total of four write-ups all pertaining to “Poor Work Performance” which the Ramp Leads and Agents could tell you otherwise that I was very hands-on and attentive to the operation. I did not sign any of the write-ups because I knew that he was angry about what I had spoken to upper Management about. It’s not fair that you voice your concerns with management and as the reporter is not safe nor is it confidential.

My Manager’s anger grew intensely towards me to the point that he would not even talk to me throughout the shift. I felt as I had nowhere to turn so I suffered this abuse from him. Not only was I dealing with personal family issues at the time, I felt targeted in which it put a huge toll on me but I wouldn’t allow it to affect nor jeopardize my job duties. I take a lot of pride into my work as a representative of a great company. I have spoken to some trusted people and I advised that retaliation is zero tolerance at any job. If you would investigate my file, you would see that everything is coming from him; no employee complaints, no other Supervisor complaints or any other prior complaints. I still have all of the documents from when I brought forward my complaint and concerns regarding him to when all of the write-ups had begun. I personally believe I was harassed out of my job. Not to mention, I’m “ineligible for rehire.”

Ramp Shift Manager has pending complaints of harassment from multiple employees going through the very same thing and I feel as if he is abusing his authority. Who do we have on our side at Sun Country to this unjustified treatment received by our management team that we are supposed to trust and believe that they have our best interest at hand when it comes to the Sun Country values? We need better Ramp Management and more support. I have credible references from multiple of Supervisors stating that they mentioned that I remain in my position because I have good work ethics and have contributed to the company in many of ways.
