Stop Wells Fargo's $7.50 service charge for cashing their own checks

The Issue

While banks have traditionally charged a reasonable service charge to non-members to cash a check from a different bank, Wells Fargo charges a $7.50 service fee to non-members even when trying to cash a check from a Wells Fargo account.  This inappropriate fee is clearly an attempt to gain new accounts and simutaneously make money off hard working people who'd rather bank elsewhere or simply don't have bank accounts for any number of reasons.  This is the most basic service of any bank, and for some, this policy means one hour's wages stripped from them by Wells Fargo for doing it.

Several lawsuits have came their way in the past on this very issue and were usually settled by the bank agreeing to provisions making it easier to open an account instead of addressing the core issue of this unfair and unreasonable business practice.

Enough is enough, Wells Fargo, eliminate this fee permanently.
