I have a brother incarcerated and I believe that to be a violation of their rights!

As a formerly incarcerated person with a close family member who is currently incarcerated facing a life sentence I feel it is extremely important that all inmates have access to literature whether it be for personal leisure reading or for educational purposes. The state department of corrections should not be allowed to deny inmates access to books.

Banning books to prisoners for any but the most serious safety concerns sounds to be like a violation of the First Amendment.

Racist and absurdist logic to further reinforce the well oiled prison industrial complex's agenda to keep, particularly, black and brown offenders, but including everyone, in cycles of recitivism. Egregious. Evil. Undeniably wrong.

Reading should not be censored, no matter who you are and where you live. Even prisoners.

I'm signing because Prison should be about rehabilitation, not locking people up like animals. There's a reason other nations have far less recurring offenders. If you want proof of this google a picture of Swedish prisons and then google their rate for recurring offenders. It will really make a difference.
