Why this petition matters

Started by Carla Jenkins

On the BET+ TV series All the Queens Men, there is a very disturbing scene of the main character Eve Marcille shooting several deaf men because they failed to “talk” about the information she wanted. The attempt at humor by making a mockery out of being deaf and unable to talk is unacceptable.

Millions of deaf people and their families worry every single day about the risk of unnecessary violence because they are unable to talk or hear what is being said. Sadly, violence and discrimination towards deaf people is widespread from many angles including police brutality. This is not okay!

As a mother of a deaf daughter I am angered and saddened by this scene in this series and want the writers and actors to understand how much this hurts our families.  Glamorizing violence towards deaf people is not okay.

We ask that you stand against violence towards deaf people and sign this petition to send a message to BET+, writers, actors and viewers demanding an apology and removal of the scene.
