The U.S. imports around 8-10% of it's oil from Russia. By purchasing Russian oil, we are helping fund Russian aggression against Ukraine. An argument against stopping imports is that it might cause gas prices in the U.S to increase, because it would create a gas shortage. To counter this, we are asking U.S consumers to sign this petition telling Congress we want the U.S to stop importing Russian oil and oil products and that we pledge to cut 8-10% our gas/oil energy usage to help keep oil prices from rising (we do NOT want Congress to dip into the strategic oil reserve to keep prices low -- that's not the purpose of the reserve). We can support Ukraine by cutting our oil/gas consumption to offset stopping Russian oil imports.
