Our small Jacobus borough has around 2,000 residents total. Nearly 100% of the homes are single family houses, with a few duplexes sprinkled in here and there.

The proposed building of townhomes off Church road shows 4 buildings of 5 units each…meaning 20 units. The average home has about 4-5 people. So this new development could easily bring 80-100 people into our small borough. That’s a 5% population growth from one plot of land at one time. Not only that, we’re looking at 20-40 possible vehicles added.

Jacobus is a fantastic community that is quiet, quaint, and just about crime free. I’ve lived in an upscale condo community, and it was very noisy…ALL THE TIME. Cars coming and going at all hours. That many people in such a small area are just loud, there’s no way around it. One of the reasons we bought our forever home in Jacobus was because there aren’t condos, townhomes and apartments everywhere. It’s quiet. It’s small. It’s safe.

I can’t believe the borough council approved this development when the community spoke out against it.

Help our borough stay small, and quiet, and safe. Sign this petition to stop multi-unit housing from becoming the norm. If we can get the majority of our borough to sign this, maybe we can make a difference and stop this from happening. It may not be in your backyard this time…but it could be the next time.
