Recently my girlfriend decided to pursue being a creator on TikTok and worked very hard amassing nearly 9000 followers in just under a month. She followed trends and recreated videos she had seen on the platform. Her account was banned for violating community guidelines and within a day other small creators that she had become friends with began having their accounts banned as well. None of the content she had created showed any nudity, promoted anything overly sexual or violated any of the guidelines. The issue is while the smaller accounts are being targeted, there are larger accounts that are blatantly promoting sexual fetishes, pornographic content and are all but naked in videos. TikTok has reviewed reports on several of these larger accounts and determined there is no violation even though their community guidelines are being broken with no consequences whatsoever for these larger accounts. My goal with this petition is to get the company to start holding everyone to the same standards and giving everyone an equal chance at success. With the help and support of those willing to sign this petition, we have the power to pressure the changes needed to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and that this bias and favoritism stops. Please take a moment and think of other situations where this happens and has likely happened to you in one way or another. My girlfriend is devastated as she put so much time, dedication, invested money, sweat and tears into grabbing the attention of her audience.
