I am petitioning for a law to be put into place for all counties in the state of Florida to ban squatters from being able to take over properties and destroy the neighborhoods that they are in. Currently there are no laws protecting homeowners and neighborhoods from squatters. On my street squatters have taken over the home of a deceased homeowner and law-enforcement says that they cannot do anything about it because it’s a victimless crime. The home owners in the neighborhood are the victims. Squatters are destroying the neighborhoods as they often bring drugs, prostitution and crime to the area. Home values are going down and the safety and livelihood of homeowners enjoying the use of their homes is being affected. We need change !
